Okay, it’s not Marky Mark, but there’s some resemblance. Chris gave me a call some weeks ago with his eyes on this 2 bedroom, 1 bath, newly renovated condo blocks from the Red Line in Uptown.
When we were showing the apartment, there were luxury apartments popping up across the street so it was a telltale sign to make an investment. The appliances were brand spanking new (how I managed to not peel the plastic film off the stove is beyond me) and sparkly clean. I knew this would be a smooth and lovely transaction when Chris brought along his girlfriend and two of his close friends on the first tour. There’s nothing like bringing the whole gang with you!
We wrote an offer and managed to negotiate it to $15THOUSAND under list price, so as you’d imagine, Chris was excited. Not only did we save money, but we made a promise to have a quick close and that’s exactly what happened. We closed 30 days from the day we wrote the offer. Over a latte from Everybody’s Coffee across the street, he told me about his girlfriend’s interest in social justice and his best friend, David, who lives in the area. Chris hopped on a flight Sunday night arriving in Chicago at 10pm, we conducted the final walkthrough at 8 am, I handed him a chunk of keys, ran the washing machine, met some neighbors, and of course, had him sit on the counter for a photo. Before we knew it, the transaction was done and he was on a flight that evening for a philanthropic event out of state: talk about no time wasted.
